Born and raised in Walla Walla.  Started photography in Junior High and then went on to work on the Wa-Hi Annual as a staff photographer.  During his time in the Navy in California, Viet Nam and Japan part of his duties included photography and editor of the Command Newspaper.

Returning to Walla Walla from the Navy he started work at Tallmans Camera department, where he worked for 23 years, 20 as the manager of that department.  In 1997, motivated by Lori Montgomery, he and others became members of a revitalized Walla Walla camera club,  now called Blue Mountain Photography Club.  Serving on that organization as Treasurer, Vice President, Representative to the Columbia Council of Camera Clubs and as President.
